The students had a wonderful time! I divided my students into 4 groups and had a different job for each student to do during our Skype. I also involved our vice principal, student teacher, resource teacher and my classroom assistant in the process. The kids were so excited and were totally into looking up information to solve their mystery. I made QR-code links to key information that we could use to access on our I-pads. They loved using the scanner!
Each group had a chance to be involved in the Skype. They were so excited when they figured out it was Massachusetts by using the clues about their state flag!
We learned that they had the same uniform as us! It was PJ day today so they were not able to tell that about us. We found no differences, just the same excitement of sharing. We are looking forward to being their Pen Pals via snail mail. We have some new friends who live east of us!
The students were really connected to the world and were all over the US map as it really hit home that they could really read a map too!
